A New Jersey-based full-service healthcare and commercial real estate development firm, CHA Partners, is launching a new assisted living and skilled nursing brand, LIVIA. CHA hopes to strike a necessary balance between hospitality and health care, as well as de-stigmatize the care types for a post-Covid consumer.

Bloomfield-based CHA Partners announced the launch of LIVIA with a community in the New Jersey town of East Hanover, consisting of 86 skilled nursing beds and 37 assisted living residences. A second community is under development in Totowa, New Jersey, and the firm holds a third license for a site in the Garden State’s Monmouth County, and hopes to begin construction within the next 12 to 18 months, Managing Partner Bill Colgan told Senior Housing News.

The new six-story, 120-unit apartment building known as The Randolph has brought new life to a vast structure on the former Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center campus in Plainfield.

As Bill Colgan points out — and seemingly embraces — its previous use is still evident in many places throughout the property.

“Here is where you feel the remnants of an old hospital,” he said during a recent tour of the building, as he entered a central, open lobby area that once housed nursing stations and other functions, but will now serve as additional lounge or co-working space for residents.”

The recently renovated property also serves as CHA Partners’ corporate headquarters.

Two new tenants are joining the roster at a distinctive office building in Bloomfield, having leased 12,000 square feet at downtown property.

The landlord, CHA Partners, said 2 Broad St. is now more than 95 percent leased after the deal with Affiliated Healthcare Management and Sierra Health Services. They join a mix of other occupiers at the building, which sits at the pointed corner of Bloomfield Avenue akin to Manhattan’s iconic Flatiron Building.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the township of Bloomfield to create a bustling live, work, play environment set within its downtown district,” said Kobi Leifer, a partner at CHA. “We welcome the new tenants to this space and continue to look ahead to a bright future in downtown Bloomfield.”
